12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - Oriflame: Giordani Gold Iconic Matte lipstick Dusky Rose

Hello! Time flies this December, I tell you! This is already my sixth blog post in my 12 Days Of Christmas series! Time to talk again about some lipstick and this time I have for you a bright shade, not the usual red we wear a lot in holidays season! So here comes a short review of Oriflame's Giordani Gold Iconic Matte  lipstick in shade Dusky Rose!

Packaging is super golden and luxuriously looking as is with the rest of the Giordani Gold collection. They truly strive to be more expensive and luxurious that they actually are! Most of their lipsticks have a regular drugstore price and there's no way I can say no to them! The price for this one is 13,90 euros or at the moment even less, in the current catalog you can get it for 9,90 euros. I consider this afordable and normal price for the product, to some these may even seem cheap as the products are really worth the money and can be considered luxury on a  budget.

There are 10 shades available all together. The lipstick is described as a matte lippie with a nice creamy texture and full pigmentation. This is actually also why I wanted to try this one out and see how well it will work for me. I was into matte lipsticks a lot lately. Not just the liquid ones. :P Anyway, I chose this shade, called Dusky Rose, thinking it will be more muted rose shade, like a tea rose sort of shade. It is actually quite a strong pink shade with colder undertone and not at all like the name suggests or the shade you can see in the catalog. The colour choice I made dissapointed me a bit, but I still gave this one a go.

This is not a matte lipstick, not n the sense I thought it would be. Once applied it still has some shine to it and only later subsides down to a matte finish. The application is really smooth, no need for a lip brush, straight from the bullet will do. The texture is smooth but not too creamy and buttery, the pigmentation is as promised - very good and you don't need to layer this to get it to full opacity. The Dusky Rose shade is actually quite fresh and vibrant shade, not at all what I have expected it to be. Still, the shade is not too strong and does not give that neon effect on the lips. The lipstick has a slight scent to it, like some sort of rose perfume, but it does not bother me. Some matte lipstick can dry your lips and you may feel them tighten and itching. There is no such sensation here, these do turn out into a matte finish, but do not dry out at the same time. The problem I see with this lipstick, is that the formula is too creamy and the lipstick needs a long time to set into matte finish or just needs a lot of blotting on top. Therefore I get why it's not drying out my lips - because of the texture and at the same time I can not say this is really a matte lipstick.

Lasting power of this lipstick surprised me. It lasts really well on me, though the texture is creamy it does not bleed over the lines and doesn't transer as much as expected. Ater a couple of hours I can see a stain on my lips and it's even so I don't need to worry about how I look. This one does not survive drinking or eating, maybe a bit of drinking after it sets. The feel on the lips is comfortable though I think I can sometimes feel the lipstick on my lips, if you know what I mean. I am just more aware of it, than of other lipsticks, maybe also because of the smell. The lipstick also includes 12 SPF.

All in all, I like this lipstick, I wear it a lot, though the colour choice was a bit off. I will definitely try some more shades soon! I loved the pigmentation, texture and longivety. The matte effect can be achieved with a bit of help, so if you want a good lipstick, but not neceserally a matte finish, I hope you try these!
